Our client was working as a mover in a residential building. While using the service elevator, the elevator unexpectedly closed without any warning. As a result of this unexpected closure, our client’s foot became entrapped in the elevator doors. Rather than the sensor on the elevator doors activating and opening the doors back up, the doors continued to close on our client’s foot like a vice. Our client sustained injuries to his foot, ankle, knee, and lower back necessitating the need for two surgeries.
